The owners of Fakenham’s most popular Fish’n’Chips restaurant have over 60 years of collective experience behind them and have been serving quality fried food from their Grade 2 Listed building for decades now. Jonathan, Andrew and Mark are passionate about doing food the right way, they transformed the listed pub into a high-end chip shop back in 2002 and have been keeping Fakenham and the surrounding villages happy ever since. If you’re staying in the area then you can order a delivery or, for the authentic experience, you can sit in with your food.
The Chequers Inn
Sometimes in order to achieve success in the pub world you don’t need to try anything new at all. The Chequers Inn offers exceptional service, a changing roster of quality ales and fresh food from local suppliers. The 17th-century premises has been carefully renovated over the years, keeping the original features intact whilst modernising other aspects in order to keep up with industry standards. Binham’s just a short walk away from Fakenham and this excellent pub is certainly worth the trip.
The Ordnance Arms
Once a humble traveller’s inn, there’s little doubt that the original architects of this building would have seen the pub being transformed into a Thai restaurant, yet here it stands! Should you wish to still drop in for a pint then you can still do so as the pub’s original features have been kept in tact, but it won’t be long until the smell of authentic, fresh Thai food draws you into the main restaurant. There’s also a takeaway option should you wish to take the lazy option.
The Dukes Head
Opened in 2003, The Dukes Ahead takes a similar approach to their food and drink. As far as road-side pubs go, it’s as traditional as they come with white-washed walls and exposed timber. Ask for the English menu and you’ll be presented with some true pub classics, but should you wish to taste something from a little further afield then you’ll be able to dive into an extensive and authentic menu of ‘Cantonese cuisine with a Malaysian influence‘ – certainly not be missed!
