4 Festive Events To Get Excited For!

Christmas is just around the corner – have you got anything booked for it?

With the festive season well and truly upon us, the time has come to get into the spirit of things and that means getting out shopping, making your Christmas cake and organising some fun festive activities. Although Fakenham is in a fairly rural location, we’re really proud of the variety of fantastic range of events that we’ve got on this year, including our traditional Christmas panto, some out of this world cinema events and a spectacular New Year screening that will make for a perfect way to start the New Year…

Many of the following events require you to book in advance, so it’s a good to make your plans soon to miss out on disappointment:

White Christmas Musical

The three-time award winning amateur dramatics group, Fakenham & District Light Operatic Society, are returning this year with a classic story of World War II camaraderie and entertainment, in the shape of Irving Berlin’s festive classic White Christmas. After half a century of fantastic productions, FADLOS is one of the most respected amateur dramatics societies in the country and even has the backing of Kerry Ellis, star of Broadway and West End shows. This year’s Christmas performance will be taking place between the 11th and 15th December with tickets starting at £7.

Christmas Spectacular

It might sound unlikely but the UK’s largest Christmas show takes place just a few miles away from Fakenham in Thursford. Only 205 people live in the small village, but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming a hub of festive activity that has attracted millions of people from all over the country and abroad since it began. This event has needed no marketing to become a success, as word-of-mouth has spread the news about this performance which includes an 130 strong cast of talented performers. Performances run from the 6th November to 23rd December.

The Nutcracker – Royal Ballet 2018

The Central Cinema in Fakenham has made sure for the last few years to feature a handful of screenings that appeal to people of all ages. Despite Disney releasing it’s live-action fantasy adaptation of the classic Nutcracker Christmas story, there is perhaps no greater adaptation than that of the Royal Ballet. A cast of 100 world-class musicians and dancers performed this classic ballet which was filmed earlier this year. There will be one screening only of this show, so make sure to book your tickets now to avoid missing out!

Andre Rieu’s New Year Concert

Whilst many might prefer a simple night in with a bottle of champagne on New Year’s Eve, there are other who might want to celebrate with a show. For those looking for a rousing way of celebrating the New Year, the Central Cinema will be screening Andre Rieu’s New Year Concert. Filmed and recorded in Sydney, Australia, this spectacular music event will be full of exciting surprises, musical guests and world-class performers – certainly one not to miss. The New Year Concert will be screened for one night only on the 5th January 2019.
